Born out of an activity designed to have kids of a Sunday school class explore what is interesting and exciting about the Bible, the task set for them was to come up with a TV advert expressing this message.

After an exhaustive brainstorming exercise the kids came up with the following set of criteria:

• Genre - Action Movie
• Theme - Superhero
• Catch Phrase - The Bible is Total Unexpected

The bible stories chosen to act out were:

• David and Goliath
• Rach, Shach and Benny
• Jesus Calms the Storm

To provide the kids with a new experience we thought it would be fun to erect a Green Screen to super impose different backgrounds behind them matching the story.

Sticking a few sheets of Green curtain material to the outdoor wall of the Sunday school building was all there was time for.

After everyone dressing up in period like costumes we were only left with 35 minutes for filming, this would be a shooting schedule that any director would dread. Coupled with the fact the actors had only received their lines 20 minutes earlier we were glad we had dedicated this activity to prayer at the outset.

After numerous takes and retakes, missing lines, a microphone keen on making an appearance, lack of Camera stand, and an ever falling green screen, the shoot was in the can.

We are not sure what future Bible Boy has with Hisown Productions, but all agreed it was a hoot and it was an activity the kids valued, with all of them and their parents requesting to shoot a sequel as soon as possible.
